The stage is set for one of the most anticipated community football events in the Beanibazar diaspora calendar – the United Beanibazar Union Cup.

On Sunday 21st September 2025, twelve teams will battle for glory at the Robert Clack Leisure Centre, Gosfield Road, RM8 1DN, with kick off scheduled for 12:30pm.

The format will be 8 a side, open to players aged 18 and over, with a maximum of 12 teams. The stakes are high; the winners will take home £300 cash plus trophies, while the runnersup will receive £200 cash and trophies. However, the real victory will be off the pitch with all proceeds going towards helping kidney patients, a cause that has touched the lives of many families both in the UK and back in Bangladesh.

Beanibazar, in the Sylhet district of Bangladesh, is famed for its scenic villages, strong sense of identity, and a rich footballing heritage. For decades, football has been more than just a game for its people; it has been a bridge connecting generations, a source of pride, and a rallying point for charitable initiatives. From grassroots games in paddy fields to well organised diaspora tournaments in London and the USA, the sport has always been woven into the community’s fabric.

Tournament organiser Helal Uddin summed up the spirit of the event: “This is about unity, pride, and helping those in need. Football is our vehicle for change.”

Rahul Rahman of UBB shared his excitement: “The Union Cup is a celebration of our shared heritage and our commitment to giving back.”

The event has drawn generous support from local sponsors, including NEYZEN, Grand Rasoi Restaurant, Towhid Academy, Positive Assets, Andromeda, FEIW, Spice Station, and MR Printers.

Their backing ensures not only the smooth running of the tournament but also maximises the funds that will be directed towards vital medical assistance.

Beyond the goals, tackles, and cheers, the Union Cup stands as a testament to the enduring power of sport to bring people together and make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Beanibazar Unions:
