Barking & Dagenham fight school funding cuts

SCHOOL FUNDING is being cut in Barking & Dagenham. An astonishing 49 out of 53 schools are still grappling with precarious financial futures – which is why activists are campaigning for sensible funding to be restored.

To mark the fight for funded education, the National Education Union is sponsoring a banner drop at Village Infants School on Ford Road, Dagenham, on 27th April, from 2.30-3.30pm. Members of the public with an interest in education (which is surely all of us!) is very welcome to come along – and also to get involved with the campaign.

There is little public awareness of how severely government funding cuts are hitting urban schools, and the campaign – part of the national campaign supported by all the major education trade unions – wants to get the message across that education matters. As well as the banner drop at Village Infants School, there will be plenty of leafleting, networking with other worried parents and teachers and discussing the issues with members of the public.
