Captain Fantastic Ayaz Karim led the charge as Scintilla CC humbled Ilford Knight Riders in the National Cricket League showdown at Hackney Marshes.
Scintilla batted first and all rounder Abul Hasib followed up his 34 from a day earlier in the Essex County Cricket League with 60, before being run out by Salman. Wicketkeeper Aminul Shihan plundered 51.
Ilford Knight Riders were bowled out for 110 from 25.1 overs. Man of the match Ayaz Karim was the pick of the bowlers with five wickets. Shohagh Mallick, Sajal Rahman, Ashfaqur Rahaman and Abul Hasib took a wicket each, with Aminul Shihan delivering an exquisite run out.
First XI Captain Ayaz Karim said, “It’s a great way to round off a perfect weekend. The boys played with grit, determination and lots of energy. It paid off in the end with a routine win. We are now handily placed at the top of the table and must retain our focus fully in the run in if we are to capitalise on this position.”
Club Captain Ahmed Choudhury added, “The end of the season is near and we are more than capable of adding another special chapter to our history. We have the armoury and I’m calling on all club members to deliver 100%. Do that and we won’t be far off.”
