Are you ready for Hallowe’en fun?

There will be spooky surprises at a host of free spine tingling events in Tower Hamlets to celebrate Hallowe’en. The Council will be staging two Halloween fun days as part of Boo! on Friday, October 31 at King Edward Memorial Park and Bartlett Park from 3.30pm-6.30pm. Join in ghastly games and weird and wonderful workshops, all led by curious characters brought to you by arts company Emergency Exit Arts.

•Enter a world of super science fiction with Space Invaders at King Edward Memorial Park in Glamis Road, E1 where a world of unnerving zombie planets and alien experiments will be unleased. Join in the party games at the Martian Laboratory or Black Hole Night Club where DJ Chewbacca will be spinning the decks to get the crowd on their feet. Mr Recycle More, the council’s ambassador for recycling will be on hand to give tips and advice on going green. At 20ft tall, Mr Recycle More is a spectacle to behold! There will also be creative workshops, face painting, bouncy castle and games for children.

•Monsters from the Deep will be theme over at Bartlett Park in Upper North Street, E14.  Plunge into an underwater underworld and get immersed in the Ghost Ship with gory face-painting and ghoulishly fun activities. The Pirate School will be open for spooky storytellying and create Buccaneer’s Bling assisted by fashion bandits. Plunder the arts and crafts treasure chest to make pirate hats, eye patches and sparkling jewellery. For anyone feeling brave enough, there are games at the Captain’s Table including the Unlucky Treasure Hunt!

Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman said: “Our fangtastic Boo! events just keep getting better each year, transforming our parks into a Hallowe’en haven and offering a whole host of free fun.” Cllr Shafiqul Haque, Cabinet Member for Culture, added: “We pride ourselves on creating exciting free family events throughout the year for residents to enjoy and during Halloween residents will be spoilt for choice.”

The Halloween high jinks don’t stop there.

•There will be thrills and spills at Victoria Park as Halloweek kicks off on Monday, 27th October 27 at the Hub Building with pumpkin carving and on Tuesday, 28th October there will be creepy crafts. The free workshops will run from 12noon-3pm.

•The council’s parks team will be staging their annual Teeny Halloweeny extravaganza on Wednesday, 29th October at Mile End Play Park in Locksley Street from 12noon-4pm. Under sevens have the chance to take part in apple bobbing, spooky treasure hunts, scary storytellying and arts and crafts.

•On 31st October, young people can scream the house down with Ditch the Witch doing battle with ghosts and ghouls in Victoria Park and Mile End Park. Aimed at youngsters aged seven to eleven, the tours will run between 6-9pm. Lasting around 30-40 minutes, the brave explorers will be taken on a blood curdling tour of the park.
