OFFICERS FROM THE Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command have launched a murder investigation after a 20 year old man was fatally stabbed in the chest in Plashet Park on Sunday afternoon.
It was just after 4pm when the emergency services were called. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service carried out emergency treatment of the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem was held today, Tuesday 17th, and established that the cause of death was indeed a stab wound to the heart. The police have located the victim’s next of kin and given them the sad news. Formal identification of the body is expected to take place shortly.
A 16 year old was arrested on Monday, 16th October on suspicion of murder and was taken to an East London police station. The following day he was charged.
DCI Jamie Piscopo, who is leading the investigation, said, “We have now charged one person in relation to this murder but there are still outstanding suspects and other lines of enquiry we are pursuing. This was a violent attack on a young man which happened in the middle of the afternoon in a busy park, and I would ask anyone who saw the incident to come forward and speak to us.”
Anyone who saw the fight and stabbing or was in the area at the time or has any other information should call the Homicide and Major Crime Command on 020-8345 3715. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
