Poplar assault suspects still at large

POLICE ARE appealing for help in identifying two men in connection with a serious assault which took place in Poplar in February. The suspects have been at large for the last four months.

The assault took place at in the early hours of Saturday, 25th February. A woman came into a newsagent on East India Dock Road, accompanied by two men. She got into an argument with another man in the shop – at which point the two men ubjected him to a sustained attack. As a result the victim had to have surgery, with metal plates inserted to help reconstruct his face.

The suspects were both white men, the first aged approximately 35 to 40 and the second aged approximately 25 to 30 – and both just under 6ft tall. The first suspect had greying hair and was wearing a black jacket and a white T-shirt. The second suspect had short, dark hair and was wearing a navy jacket and black T-shirt.

Detective Constable Ashleigh Dumas of Tower Hamlets police said, “This was a vicious assault that left the victim with serious injuries. We are appealing for the public to help us in identifying who these suspects are.”
