Twelve years for Bow stabbing

A MAN WHO stabbed a plain clothes police officer in an alleyway off the Bow Road and assaulted a member of the public has been jailed for twelve years – with a further two years on extended licence.

Andrew Beadie appeared at the Old Bailey on 26th May, where he was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent for stabbing the police officer and common assault on a member of the public – who has not been identified.

Beadie returned to the Old Bailey last week, where he was sentenced. In addition to the twelve years in prison for stabbing the police officer, he was sentenced to six months in prison for the assault – but this sentence will be served concurrently with the first.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes of the Homicide and Major Crime Command welcomed the sentence, saying, “He has received a significant custodial sentence, and this should act as a timely reminder of the consequences of carrying a knife on the streets of London.”
