THE POLICE HAVE appealed to members of the public who were in and around Crows Road, near Harts Lane, Barking, in the late evening of Thursday, 17th May, to come forward. It was the scene of a stabbing – in which a young man lost his life.

Reports of the stabbing came in to the emergency services at around11.30pm. The police arrived first – and gave first aid treatment to a man found at the scene who had been stabbed. Parademics arrived shortly afterwards, but they had to declare the victim dead at the scene.

The victim was later named as Abdulrahman Nassor Juma, 23 – who was known to his friends as Mani. A post mortem examination carried out the day after he died confirmed that his death was caused by the stab wounds he had suffered.

The death is being treated as a murder, and the investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Packer of the Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command. A 24 year old man was arrested on suspicion of murder a week after the killing.

DCI Packer said, “I know there were people out and about in Crows Road at the time of the murder. I need to speak with these people as soon as possible as they may have vital evidence. I urge anyone who may have information to speak with police.”

Anyone who was in the Crows Road area that evening or who has any other information about the murder should call the incident room on 020-8345 3865. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
