What’s your council up to this week?

Most Council meetings are open to the public. Going along and seeing your councillors perform is a good way to keep an eye on them and learn about what’s going on. Meetings can move or be cancelled, so check your Council website before going to a meeting listed below.

 

Tower Hamlets Monday 22nd June, 6.30pm:  Overview & Scrutiny Committee There’s a good bit of first-meeting-of-the-year items on the agenda. The only substantive item is a discussion on the Continuous Improvement Plan.

Newham Tuesday, 23rd June, 6pm: Strategic Development Committee There’s one item on the agenda, concerning the Sunborn London Yacht in Western Gateway.

Wednesday, 24th June, 6.30am: Local Development Committee There are two items on the agenda, concerning the Denmark Arms in Barking Road and premises at 5 North Crescent in Canning Town.

Hackney Tuesday, 23rd June, 7.30pm: Health in Hackney Scrutiny Commission Hackney’s getting down to business quickly.  There’s a discussion on the draft Strategy for Adult Social Care and a review of Homerton Healthcare’s work over the last year.

Wednesday, 24th June, 2pm: Licensing Sub Committee There’s one item concerning a supermarket on Kingsland High Street.

Wednesday, 24th June, 6.30pm: Pensions Committee Lots and lots of technical documents.

Thursday, 25th June, 3pm: Health and Wellbeing Board The time of the meeting makes it hard for people to attend.  Items to discuss include the Better Care Fund (money shared between the NHS and the Council, primarily to stop bed-blocking); the Health & Wellbeing strategy; Social Connections (a report from the huge bureaucracy running this project, whatever it is); and finance.

Thursday, 25th June, 7pm: Planning Committee There are three applications on the agenda.
