Just a few days later, in the early hours of 3rd September, police made two arrests. Two men, aged 22 and 23 years were detained on suspicion of murder and taken to an east London police station. They were later released on police bail until a date in late September.

A third man was arrested on 6th September on suspicion of conspiring with others to commit murder He was held at an east London police station and was later released on police bail until a date in early October.

A fourth man, aged 22, was arrested on 9th September on suspicion of conspiring with others to commit murder. He was bailed until a date in early October.

Two further men, aged 23 and 22, were arrested on 12th September on suspicion of conspiring with others to commit murder. They were bailed until a date in early October.

Despite these arrests having been made, the Homicide and Major Crime Command is still investigating and need help from the public if they are to have a successful prosecution.

Detective Inspector Paul Considine, who is leading the investigation, appealed for help from the public, saying, “Any information, no matter how insignificant, may provide a vital piece of the puzzle for officers investigating the series of events leading up to, and immediately following, Abdul being shot. Abdul left his home at 22:00hrs, just 40 minutes before he was shot. Who was he with during those 40 minutes – where did he go? I fully appreciate that witnesses may be reluctant to come forward, but it is vital that we apprehend those responsible and all information will be treated with the utmost discretion.”
