THE UN Security Council had been due to vote on a resolution on the Strait of Hormuz yesterday – Saturday, 3rd April. That vote was postponed to today – but now it has been postponed again.

The motion has been put forward by Bahrain, which is currently president of the Security Council. The motion would have authorised member states to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for ships to go through. Specifically, member states were to be allowed to use “all defensive means necessary and commensurate with the circumstances”.

No new date for the vote has been announced.
