The highly anticipated Charity Boat Race returns for its fourth year – bigger, better, and with a new venue! Scheduled for Sunday 17 August 2025 at the scenic Fairlop Waters Country Park, this year’s event marks an exciting step forward from its previous home at the Regatta Centre.

Organised by a passionate consortium of three registered charities – Gift Foundation, Sisters Forum, and Newham Youth Link, the Charity Boat Race is more than just a sporting event. It’s a vibrant, community-powered celebration of fitness, wellbeing, and giving back.

With the sad passing of Shaikh Fahimul Anam, who played the most instrumental role in establishing this event, the community is keen to continue his legacy.

The official launch will be held on Tuesday 6 May 2025 at Kobi Nazrul Primary School, Greenfield Road, London. The event will unveil key details including sponsorship opportunities, volunteer sign-ups, activity schedules, and, of course, the much-loved race categories.

This year’s lineup includes: • Upazila Challenge – regional teams showcasing local pride • Sisters Race – empowering women through unity and strength • Masjid Challenge – Mosques competing in a spirit of brotherhood • Community Leaders Cup – bringing together influencers and changemakers

Beyond the water, attendees can enjoy rickshaw rides, carrom board games, a lively Lunghi race, and a family picnic area. With food stalls, cultural performances, and activities for all ages, the event promises a day of fun for the whole family.

All proceeds from the race will support the Gift of Knowledge initiative by Gift Foundation. This vital programme funds scholarships for underprivileged children, orphan sponsorships, and resources for educational institutions, helping nurture talent and potential across the globe.

“This is more than a boat race—it’s a movement for change,” said Rashid Ali, spokesperson for the organising team. “Every paddle stroke taken is a step toward empowering a child, building futures, and giving back to those in need. We’re calling on our communities to come together in compassion, action, and unity.”

The Charity Boat Race also places strong emphasis on health and wellbeing, encouraging people from all walks of life to get active and build meaningful connections through sport.

The organising committee extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported the event over the past three years: volunteers, sponsors, participants, and attendees. The continued belief in this cause is what keeps the boats moving.

To make this year’s event even more impactful, organisers are currently seeking sponsors and also a charity partner. Various sponsorship packages are available, with flexible options tailored to align with the values and passion of partners. Interested businesses or individuals are encouraged to get in touch and explore how they can play a role in the Race for Humanity.

Join the team this summer to row, cheer, picnic, and participate together to turn the tide toward a brighter, more educated future.

All participating teams are encouraged to use the event as a platform to raise funds for any charitable cause of their choice.
