Sporting Bengal came back from a goal down to win 2-1 against Stowmarket FC in the FA Vase Cup tie clash at Mile End Stadium.

Imrul Ghazi’s men were unlucky to go a goal down and a Braudlaugh penalty sent Stowmarket in a goal up at half time. Sporting were valiant in the second half, but a flurry of goalscoring opportunities failed to come to fruition. The boys in blue refused to buckle, and with three minutes remaining on the clock Sporting equalised through a penalty from Shiblu Miah – who now has three in three.

A winner did not materialise in normal time, so the tie went into extra time. Both teams sought a winner, but it was the home team who struck gold as Ashaan Siddik slotted home a 118th minute winner for Sporting.

Sporting Bengal Manager Imrul Gazi said, “The boys had to dig deep and grind out the result. Being a goal down isn’t ideal at any level of the game but I’m proud at the way my team refused to bow their heads.”
