The Vallance Community Sports Association will be holding its eighth annual disability sports day at Mile End Stadium on Thursday. 19th May. Last year’s event was attended by several hundred keen sports fans. This year’s day, which is supported by Tower Hamlets Council, will have a huge range of sports on offer that are friendly to people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include track and field events, football and cricket, soft tennis and plastic fencing and inclusive cycling. There will also be a special focus on boccia, the popular precision ball game played in dozens of countries at Paralympic level.

For those who want a quick break from athletics, there will also be non-sporting activities including face-painting and mehndi. The event also aims to signpost people to disability services in the borough, including study support groups and the Council’s Parents Advice Centre SEND forum. The event will finish with a presentation of trophies and medals.

There is no need to register in advance. The stadium opens for registration at 10.30am and participants need to bring their own lunch. Minibus parking is available in the stadium car park. The event finishes at 2.30pm.
