A 40 YEAR OLD man from Essex was innocently walking down Harbour Exchange on the Isle of Dogs, E14, when an attack happened which was going to leave him with life-changing injuries.

As the victim walked along, he was struck on the head – without any warning – by a heavy object which was probably a dumbbell or something very similar. His head was cut and, more seriously, an injury to his eye.

The London Ambulance Service came to the scene and gave the victim medical treatment before taking him to hospital. He has since been discharged

The suspect is described as a black man of around 20 years of age. He is 6ft tall and of slim build. He has black hair, shaved at the sides of his head. On the day he was wearing grey trousers and a black top with white detail on both arms.

Detective Constable Sharon Etheridge, who is leading the investigation, said, “This was a vicious attack which appears to be totally unprovoked. The victim has been left with life changing injuries and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bethnal Green CID – Team Two on 020-8217 3719 or via 101. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
