Did you see Stratford hit and run?

A woman was left with substantial injuries after being hit by a car in Thornham Grove, Stratford, London E15. The collision occurred at 03.39hrs in the early hours of Saturday morning, 20th August and the vehicle did not stop at the scene of the accident. The London Ambulance Service was called to the scene and paramedics took the injured woman to hospital. The 22 year old is still in hospital with injuries that are see as not life threatening.

The Ambulance Service called the police to the scene, and they found a vehicle in the area but some way from the scene of the accident. A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and attempted murder. He was taken to an East London police station, where he is still being held in custody. Police have not yet established whether the vehicle they found was the one involved in the collision.

Newham detectives are now appealing for witnesses to the incident or anyone with information to call the police on 101. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111: your call will be confidential and you do not even have to give a name.
