IT WAS THE early hours of Sunday, 21st January – round about ten to five in the morning – when the emergency services were called out to the A12, near the Leytonstone junction.

They found that a black Ford Focus, which had been travelling westbound on the A12, had collided with a lamp post. The driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to an East London hospital, where he remains, in a critical condition. The police are in the process of informing his next of kin.

Police from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating the collision. They are asking anyone who was on that stretch of road at that time and saw the black Ford Focus, or who witnessed the accident, to contact them on 020-8497 4874.
