Search goes on for Ilford sex attacker

A VIOLENT and vicious attack was carried out on 21st December 2017 on an 18 year old woman in a shop on Cranbrook Road, Ilford. Police have been hunting the attacker and are now appealing to the public for help.

The victim was in a shop on Cranbrook Road just before 4am.  A man came to the door and said he knew the shop’s owner. The woman opened the shop door – and the suspect then pushed his way in. He dragged her to the back of the shop and sexually assaulted her. He then threatened her with violence, forcing her to hand over her purse. He also took money from the till.

Now police have released images of the suspect obtained from CCTV cameras. He is described as a black man in his 30s. He was wearing a grey hoode jumper, a black jacket dark grey trousers and black trainers.

Detective Constable Angela Nemeth, from the East Area Command, said, “The suspect has abused this woman’s trust before forcing his way in and dragging her to the rear of the shop to attack her. We are appealing for any information as to the identity of this man.”

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack is asked to contact police as you may have seen something useful. They, and anyone who thinks they recognise the suspect from these pictures or has any other information, is asked to contact police via 101.
