Romford killer gets 14 years behind bars

RICKY HAYDEN woke up at around 1.30am on 13th September last year. He looked out of his window and saw a group of men trying to steal a moped from outside his house. Ricky and his father went to investigate. Ricky ended up dead, and his father was injured.

At the Old Bailey on 31st July this year Tommy Roome, 20, was found guilty of the manslaughter of Ricky Hayden. Roome’s accomplice, Kevin Malamba, also 20, admitted perverting the course of justice.

The pair returned to the Old Bailey on 8th September. Roome was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment in a young offenders’ institution, with a further five years on licence. Malamba was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment in a young offenders’ institution.
