We’re all seeing double at Roman Road this month as the traditional Summer Festival, organised by the Roman Road Resident & Business Association and Tower Hamlets Council, will extend over two Sundays. Everyone’s welcome to go along: free events begin at 11am on Sundays 12th and 19th July.
Events taking place on the first Sunday include: •a village screen outside Gladstone Place playing the Wimbledon men’s tennis final; •outdoor games, sporting activities and entertainment for children; •food and a bar.
Events taking place on the second Sunday include: •a party to celebrate Eid, including Bollywood dancing, and singing and dance workshops; •Asian and world food stalls; •local produce and crafts market.
There will also be a number of fringe events throughout the festival week along Roman Road.
John Biggs has spotted that that the event is taking place and pointed out that people could go to it and have fun. “This festival is a great chance for local people to celebrate summer in this unique neighbourhood,” he said. “I hope that people from all over Tower Hamlets will share the festivities by coming to Roman Road and taking part in the fun.”
