A POPLAR MAN has been found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent after an incident at Alice Shepherd House on the Isle of Dogs which took place last October.
There was a dispute at a flat in the block at around 8.40am during which the victim, a 29 year old man, threatened to kill a woman and broke a window – before leaving the block by the lift.
Jeremy Muda, 31, a carpet fitter of Cygnet House North, Chrisp Street, E14 waited outside the lift on the ground floor. When the victim came out of the lift, Muda attacked him with a carpet knife. He slashed the victim across the neck, face and upper arm. The victim was taken to an East London hospital for treatment.
Muda handed himself in to the police the day after the attack. He was later charged and he was convicted at Snaresbrook Crown Court last week.
Detective Constable Gemma Thomas from Tower Hamlets CID said, “This result sends a powerful message to those who choose to use violence on the streets of London. We will arrest you and put you before the courts to face the consequences of your actions.”
