AN ATTACK labelled “appalling and completely unprovoked” has left police trying to locate Daniel Weston (pictured above), 39, who is believed to live in Dagenham.
Police were called out at round 8.30pm on 21st May to an address in Farmway, Dagenham by reports that an assault had taken place there. When they arrived at the property, they found a man who had a slash wound to his face.
Police were told that the victim was at the property, which was the home of a friend, when a man who was also present started to make racist insults to him. The victim asked him to stop, and the man who had made the insults left the property – only to return a short while later.
The man who had been making the insults confronted the victim once more, and he then produced a knife and slashed the victim’s face. He appeared to make two further attempts to stab the victim, but the victim managed to get away and ran outside. The man who had committed the assault then left the property.
Police have now announced that they wish to trace Daniel Weston as they wish to speak to him in connection with this incident.
Detective Constable Marvin Turner, from the East Area Safeguarding Command, said, “This was an appalling and completely unprovoked attack on the victim – based solely on the colour of his skin – which has left him anxious and re-living the incident. Hate crime of any kind is abhorrent and will simply not be tolerated. I know the public will share our disgust at this incident and would ask that anyone who can assist with the whereabouts of Daniel Weston or provide any information which could assist the investigation to please come forward.”
