POLICE SEARCHING for three suspects who robbed a pensioner in Ilford last summer have now released CCTV footage in the hope that the public can help them identify and find the suspects – before they harm someone else.
The theft took place at the Exchange Shoppig Mall on High Road, Ilford. The pensioner visited Lloyds Bank at approximately 11.20am and withdrew £1,000 from her bank account. She then went to the Mall and went into the lift that goes up to the car park, where her daughter’s car was parked.
The suspects joined her in the lift. Two of them distracted the pensioner by talking with her about the different floors in the car park while the other looked in her handbag – and took out her purse, which contained the cash she had just taken out of the bank. The victim found her daughter’s car and got into it – and then realised her purse, and the savings, were gone.
The suspects are described as follows. •One: a white woman in her 40s, with long dyed white hair, wearing a black leather jacket over a black and white chequered top, bleached blue jeans with holes in the knees and black shoes. •Two: an Eastern European man, aged in his 30s, with short black hair, wearing a green jacket, blue jeans and blue trainers with white laces. •Three: an Eastern European man, aged in his 40s, with receding short dark hair, wearing a grey suit jacket over a black top, blue jeans and blue trainers with white soles, wearing black rimmed glasses on his head.
•PC Carl Repper from the East Area Command (EAC) appealed to the public to look at the CCTV footage and see if they could help police identify the three suspects. Anyone who can help is asked to phone the East Area Command via 101. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
