POLICE ARE APPEALING to the public for help in identifying a woman who was involved in an altercation in Ilford concerning a taxi. The woman was caught on CCTV and police have released a short section of the footage.
The argument began outside the Champs Sports Bar and Grill on Chapel Road at around 3am on Sunday, 23rd July. A woman had left the venue with her boyfriend and as a taxi arrived an argument began between the couple and a group of women who were also waiting for a taxi.
The woman and her boyfriend were both assaulted. The female victim’s leg was broken and she sustained bruising on her thigh, a finger and her arm. She had to attend an East London hospital for medical treatment.
The woman whose image has now been released is believed to have pushed the victim to the floor and kicked her – causing the injuries. She is described as being in her 30, with long dark hair, wearing a dark coloured top, light coloured trousers and dark shoes, as well as dark rimmed glasses.
Detective Constable Jonathan Lam, from the East Area Command, said, “As the victim patiently waited for her taxi, she was attacked by a boisterous crowd intent on taking the taxi as soon as it pulled up outside the sports bar. I would appeal to anyone who recognises this woman to contact us.”
•Anyone who can help identify the woman is asked to contact police via 101. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
