Met police detectives from Havering have released a picture of a man they want to interview in an attempt to clear up an assault which took place over the summer.

A minicab driver was seriously assaulted in the early hours of Wednesday, 10th August at the rear of the A1 minicabs office in South Street, Romford. It is thought that the assault was carried out by a passenger who had refused to pay his fare. The driver lost consciousness after being head-butted and punched. He was treated in a local hospital for a broken nose and jaw and also lost two teeth.

The picture of the suspect was taken from CCTV footage of the passenger just before he got into the cab on Upper Rainham Road, Rainham. He is described as a black man in his mid 20s with short dark hair who, at the time, was wearing a black hooded top, dark trousers and black shoes.

Detective Constable Phil Stokes who leads the investigation for Havering police said: “This was a brutal attack on a minicab driver following a dispute over a fare. If you recognise the man shown in the image please get in contact with police.”

Anyone with information or any witnesses is urged to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Calls to Crimestoppers are anonymous and you do not even have to give your name.
