MINISTER Theresa May has admitted in the House of Commons that tests on tower blocks since the Grenfell Tower fire have revealed that some of them have cladding which is “combustible”.

The PM did not reveal details of which blocks these are and what is being done about them, but insisted that al local authorities where these blocks are located have been informed.

She came up with the comment that councils are working with their local Fire Service and are “taking all possible steps to ensure buildings are safe and inform affected residents”. Without knowing where the blocks are, this statement will provide no reassurance whatsoever.

•STORY UPDATE: Following questions in the House of Commons, Theresa May has clarified that there are believed to be some 600 high rise blocks with “combustible” cladding. She has promised that Local Government Secretary Sajid Javid will make the names and locations of the affected blocks known within two days. This leaves the question: why wait two days?
