Emdad Rahman: Impressions Banqueting Suite was the venue for a charity dinner and evening of entertainment as the local Muslim community came together to support the building of the Newbury Park Islamic Cultural Centre. Titled “The Blessed Few,” the event was chaired and anchored by celebrity presenter Sajid Varda of the Islam Channel. Cleric Shaikh Zahir Mahmood was the chief guest and the fundraising was co-ordinated by Jalal Ibn Saeed.

The evening commenced with a uniquely melodic recitation of verses from the Quran by the distinguished recite Qari Ashiqur Rahman of Al Azhar University. Thereafter followed a thought provoking lecture from Shaikh Zahir Mahmood and an exquisite three course dinner. The evening included a live auction which included Umrah tickets, signed cricket bats and jerseys, gold plated roses from Gold Glitz and prized scents from Sunnamusk.

Dinner entertainment was particularly full of amusement as celebrated US funnyman and stand up comedian Preacher Moss had the guests rolling in the aisles with mirth and laughter.

Chair Mohammed Shahidullah Patwary said: “NPICC is committed to building a place of prayer in our locality. Out greater plan is to engage our neighbours and help build a model community where everyone can live side by side free from disharmony.”
