Nobel takes five as Scintilla trounce Redbridge

Ashfaqur Rahman Nobel took five wickets as Scintilla CC bounced back from their previous loss to beat Redbridge CC by seven wickets at the Peter May Stadium.

Redbridge won the toss and chose to bat first. They were bowled out within 23 overs for 118. The outstanding Nobel took 5/16 in five overs and was supported by Abul Hasib 1/37 (five overs), Zahed Mamun 1/13 (five overs), new vice captain Sajal Rahman, 1/11 (two overs) and Hassan Rony, 1/6 (two overs). Scintilla then made light work of their opponents to reach 122/3 from sixteen overs, with Ahmad Norharif Hamidon scoring 37.

Man of the match Ashfaqur Rahaman said: “It’s a tremendous feeling to make such an impact in the game. Our loss to Tennyson last week was hard to take, and I’m glad that we have learnt lessons and come back stronger.” Scintilla captain Ayaz Karim said: “The boys have bounced back and our win today was resounding. The manner in which we lost last week was difficult to stomach and we had to hold an inquest in order to move forward. Well done to the team for the win today. We still need to work on our consistency if we are to achieve anything this season. In any sport winning is the only solution to everything.”

The Scintilla second XI played their latest league game against Redbridge Park CC at the Parmiters Sports Ground. Redbridge won the toss and decided to bat first. They were bowled out for 134.

Scintilla scored 138 to win by 8 wickets. Man of the match Yasin Arafat was top scorer with 55 from 60 balls. Moin Arefin struck 40 from 37 balls and Mohammed Khizir added 6 from 9 balls.

Captain Shaha Riadh said: “We have returned from a break in our fixtures and it’s nice to see the team have been focussed. I’m very pleased with everybody’s performances today.”
