New police appeal as three charged with Newham stabbing

POLICE HAVE MADE a new appeal for information as they continue to investigate a fatal stabbing in Plashet Park, Forest Gate. To date, three suspects have been charged – two with murder.

Moosakhan Nasiri died on 15th October. It was just past 4pm – that’s not a dangerous time, and an East London park is not supposed to be a dangerous place. When the police found him, he had been stabbed. Medics tried to treat him, but he died at the scene. A single stab wound to the heart – and he was dead.

A 16 year old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the killing. Now two other young men – an 18 year old from Plaistow and a 22 year old from Stratford have been charged with murder. All three appeared at the Old Bailey on 12th January and were remanded in custody.

An 18 year old man was arrested on suspicion of murder just three days after Moosakhan Nasiri died. This illustrates the difficulties the police face in these cases. They can carry out painstaking work to come up with suspects – but they need evidence to secure a conviction in court.

Now the police have made a new appeal to the public to help them find the evidence they need. If you were near Plashet Park around 4pm on 15th October, they need to hear from you. If you know anything about who went down there and stabbed Moosakhan Nasiri to death, they need to hear from you. If you have any information which can help the police, they need to hear from you – now.

Police believe it is possible that Moosakhan Nasiri was attacked by a number of assailants and that the attack may have been filmed by one of the attackers or someone looking on. Do you have a video of what happened? Have you seen one?

Detective Inspector John Marriot, who is dealing with the investigation, explained, “We are now a number of months on from when Moosakhan was brutally murdered, and while we have charged three people in relation to this murder, we would still be very keen to talk to anyone with information. This attack happened in the middle of a busy park and there will have been numerous witnesses to this violent stabbing. I would encourage anyone with information, and in particular any video footage, to submit this to us so that we can bring those responsible to justice.”

Anyone who can help is asked to ring the Homicide and Major Crime Command on 020-8345 3715. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
