A NEW COHORT of police officers took part in the traditional passing out parade on 13th July – and almost a quarter of them were from a BAME background.
The 172 new officers were congratulated by Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick and special guest London Mayor Sadiq Khan as the marched past an audience of family and friends at the police training academy at Hendon.
This particular parade was notable as it included the first detective constables to be recruited direct, without having to pass through the junior ranks of the general police force first.
