Murdered MP Jo Cox, who lived in Tower Hamlets, was honoured at the LiFe 2016 festival in Lincolnshire, where she posthumously received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Before she entered Parliament, Jo had worked for charities including NSPCC, Save the Children and Oxfam – work which often took her to conflict zones. Having become an MP, she continued to have an interest in humanitarian issues. She called for Britain to do more to help the victims of Syria’s civil war and .for the blockade of the Gaza Strip to be ended.

At the LiFEfestival, the artist Teakster was asked to create a mural dedicated to Jo Cox – which is pictured.
