POLICE HAVE appealed for help in identifying a young man they wish to speak to in connection with a violent assault which took place on 20th June.
A number of young men went into a Morrison’s shop in Stamford Hill at around 8pm that evening. A security guard saw one of the men take a bottle of alcohol – and challenged him. The young man resisted and smashed the bottle of alcohol over the head of the security guard, giving him a cut in the head.
The security guard held on to the young man, but the rest of the group began to threaten other shop staff. The security guard had to let the young man go, and the group of men ran off.
The security guard, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital but fortunately he was discharged after treatment.
•The police are asking for anyone who can help them identify the young man in the above photo to call Hackney CID on 020-7275 3632. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
