FOUR MEN have been arrested following the death of a young man in Leyton. He was stabbed.
The Metropolitan Police received reports shortly after midnight on Thursday, 23rd April that a group of people were fighting in Saint George’s Road, Leyton. Police and the London Ambulance Service attended and paramedics treated a 24 year old man who had been stabbed. Sadly, they were not able to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has not been named, but his next of kin have been informed. The police arrested four young men, on suspicion of murder, near the scene of the crime. They remain in custody.
Chief Superintendent Rhona Hunt leads policing in Waltham Forest. She said that police believe that the stabbing was an isolated incident, but the crime has brought extra officers into the area as the police investigate.
CS Hunt said, “The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, and was preceded by a significant disturbance involving a number of individuals. We are therefore keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard something.”
