IT WAS AROUND 6pm on Tuesday, 13th February that police received a report that a woman had died at an address in Staines Road, Ilford. When they got into the property, they found a 54 year old woman with serious head injuries.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and police are awaiting formal identification, but police are satisfied that the deceased woman is Saeeda Hussain. A post mortem will be held in due course.
Police arrested a man on suspicion of murder. He was held in custody at an East London police station. On 14th February he was charged with murdering Saeeda Hussain. Police have named him as Muhammad Javed, 58, of Staines Road, Ilford. He was expected to appear at Redbridge Magistrates’ Court on 15th February.
Detective Inspector John Marriott is leading the investigation. He said, “While we have a male in custody, our investigation is still in its very early stages and enquiries are ongoing.”
