A CAR was stolen from Leyton on 16th May – but this was no ordinary car theft. A six year old girl was in the car when it was taken, and police had to mount an immediate operation to try to find the vehicle and its unwilling occupant. Fortunately, the little girl was found later that day – unharmed.
Just ten days later, police arrested Moazzam Ali, 32, of no fixed abode. The following day, Saturday, 27th May, Ali appeared at Thames Magistrates’Court. He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle on 16th May, from Leyton High Road – and with a further seven counts of theft of a motor vehicle.
Ali was remanded in Custody, to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
