HE IS BACK. Lutfur Rahman has won a decisive victory in the election for Mayor of Tower Hamlets. He topped the poll with over 31,000 votes – winning his fourth mayoral election.
The ringing endorsement from voters came as a Green surge saw the Party nearly beat Tower Hamlets Labour Party into third place.
Result in full Zami Ali, Tower Hamlets Independent, 3,156 John Gerald Bullard, Reform UK, 7,153 Mohammed Abdul Hannan, Lib-Dems, 2,421 Sirajul Islam, Labour, 19,454 Hirra Khan Adeogun, Green Party, 19,223 Terrence McGrenera, Independent, 524 Dominic Aidan Nolan, Conservative, 3,818 Hugo Pierre, Trade Union and Social Coalition, 638 Lutfur Rahman, Aspire, 35,679
The voters have not only backed Lutfur Rahman, they have also rejected Starmer’s Labour Party. Ironically, Starmer has sent a government envoy into Tower Hamlets to show the Mayor how to run the Council better. Perhaps the voters of Tower Hamlets should combine to send a Tower Hamlets Envoy up to Westminster, to give Starmer some ideas.
The votes for Council seats in the borough will be counted on Saturday, with Aspire likely to win over two thirds of the seat – which would give the Mayor a strong Administration.
