London, UK: London Enterprise Academy has been awarded Gold Accreditation in Transport for London’s Travel for Life scheme, the highest recognition available, marking a proud milestone in its ongoing commitment to safe, sustainable, and active travel.
The programme, backed by the Mayor of London, helps schools and communities inspire young Londoners to travel in ways that are healthier, safer, and more environmentally responsible. Accreditation runs until 2028, underlining the school’s sustained dedication to building a brighter and greener future.
The school’s success has been driven by School Participation Officer Muhi Mikdad, who has coordinated initiatives such as “walk to school” events, cycle training, road safety campaigns, and the promotion of public transport. These activities have not only reduced congestion and pollution around the school but also encouraged healthier lifestyles for pupils and families.
Muhi Mikdad said: “This achievement is a testament to our students’ enthusiasm and the dedication of the whole school community. We’ve worked hard to promote active, safe, and sustainable travel, and seeing our efforts recognised at Gold level is incredibly rewarding.”
Headteacher Ashid Ali praised the award, adding: “We are proud to be part of the Travel for Life journey. This accreditation shows what can be achieved when schools, families, and local authorities work together for the benefit of our young people and the wider community. It is about preparing the next generation not only to travel safely but also to value sustainability and make positive choices for London’s future.”
Travel for Life is delivered by Transport for London (TfL) with support from the Mayor of London. It encourages safe, active, and sustainable travel for young people whilst recognising achievement through a tiered system: Bronze, Silver, and Gold Accreditation.
The aim is to cut car use, ease congestion, lower emissions, and improve health across London.
With Gold status secured, London Enterprise Academy will continue to build on its strong foundations, supporting the next generation of Londoners to travel towards a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future.
