TICKETS GO ON SALE at 1pm on 12th March for an Easter Monday clash between the London Lions and BC Vyatautas Prienu of the Lithuanian premier men’s basketball league, the LKL.

The international fixture will take place on Easter Monday, 2nd April at the Copper Box Arena in Stratford. Doors open at 3pm, with tip-off at 4pm. The Lions are going to make a real spectacle of the game, with exciting half time entertainment planned.

The Lithuanian side is expected to feature regular players Lamelo and LiAngelo. Born in the US, the brothers are tipped to follow in the footsteps of their brother Lonzo, who plays for the LA Lakers.

A spokesperson for BC Vytautas said, “Our team is very excited about coming to London, we will be throwing all our power behind this game.” Basketball is Lithuania’s national sport, so the whole country may well be watching in!

Lions Chief Executive Vince Macaulay said that he is expecting Vyatautas Prienu to field an outstanding team, but promised to give them a good run for their money.

“With London having the largest Lithuanian population outside Lithuania, we have always wanted to play a Lithuanian team and engage with their huge fan base,” he said. “We know Lithuania is proud to boast an exciting and dynamic basketball culture which I feel this country needs to adopt for us to take the sport to the next level.”
