IT WAS A standing ovation forBollywood Hollywood’s new rugby biopic Jungle Cry at its official screening in Wales – the home of rugby – this week.
Jungle Cry tells the story of one of the most unusual – and bravest – rugby teams. The Jungle Crows team was formed by twelve underprivileged children who began playing barefoot – but went on to win the Under 14s Rugby World Cup in England.
Top rugby players joined Sara Edwards – Her Majesty the Queen’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dyfed – for the screening at the Ffwrnes Theatre in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire at the event, which was hosted by Carmarthenshire County Council.
The film’s rugby scenes were shot on location in South Wales. Rugby players Nigel Owens, Phil Bennett and Collin Charvis have cameo roles in the film. The Jungle Crows coach, Paul Walsh MBE, who built the team on behalf of The ATLAS Foundation, also attended the screening.
Veteran Mumbai and Hollywood producer Prashant Shah, who is heading up Bollywood Hollywood Production, commented, “Jungle Cry is truly an inspiring film that promotes education, sports and helps eradicate poverty and create patriotism for every nation and we are very excited to release it to a global audience of cinemagoers in April.”
