JAGANNATHPUR UK launched their new team strip at Pedley Street community centre ahead of this weekend’s Greater Sylhet Cup. This year the team is sponsored by Meraz Cafe, a cosy and informal eatery launched in 1974.
In attendance at the launch were representatives and officials from Sonali Othith, as well as from rival teams which will all be vying to be crowned Greater Sylhet UK champions on Sunday.
The event ceremony and presentation was expertly organised and choreographed under the watchful eye of Akik Miah, founder of the Inventors Club, Whitechapel, and a longstanding member of the iconic Stepney Football Club. Guests were served a delicious buffet dinner to round off the evening.
Mohammed Hussain (Bokul), Chair of Jagonnathpur Upazila FC (UK), said, “I would like to thank all our guests for attending this important celebration. We are pleased to launch a smart brand and I hope our football on the day of the Greater Sylhet Cup will reflect this.”
Shamim Ali of Meraz Cafe added, “This is a proud moment for me. We were established as a humble cafe in the 70s to cater for those longing for a taste of Bangladesh, Pakistan and India. It’s been a tough journey to establish our brand and today I’m proud to be able to support the community through this sponsorship. I wish our team the greatest of success.”
