THE HUMAN RELIEF Foundation Team Ghana had a fruitful day as the Londoners visited Banvum and Tolon in northern Ghana to coach school children. There was a visit to the Timtooni Football Club under 15s before watching the senior team win 1-0 against Tolon.

The morning session saw the team receive a huge reception in Banvum where open football coaching sessions and a mini tournament were delivered in front of school staff, parents and a large number of locals. There was added engagement from HRF Project Co-ordination Manager Adam Kelwick, Nizar Dahan, and Waseem Iqbal.

After the coaching and game at Timtooni FC concluded the team were honoured with an audience in the presence of neighbourhood chief, retired General Alhaj Abu Bakr Sulaiman, who spoke of his pride at the good work being done. “I prayed for support for my community and it came,” he said. “I have great plans to support my people and I’m looking forward to working in partnership to deliver this.”

As with other visits the HRF Team Ghana were sent away with goats and yams as prized gifts – the highest form of hospitality.

Kassim Tokan, Deputy CEO at the Human Relief Foundation, said, “We believe in the spirit of sport to bring people together and are proud to have allowed our coaches Abdal Ahmed, Abu Nasir, Abdul Hannan and Emdad Rahman deliver sessions. We have really enjoyed the day.”

Head of Community Engagement Khoyrul Shaheed added, “The coaches and volunteers have been outstanding throughout the day. It’s been quite easy considering the love and affection we have received from the people.”
