IT WAS EARLY evening – just coming up to 6pm – yesterday, 17th April, when police received reports that there had been a stabbing in Matthias Road, Hackney. With an ambulance on its way, they reached the scene first and found the victim.
Police administered first aid, including CPR, and ambulance personnel provided further emergency treatment. Despite their best efforts, the victim had to be declared dead at 6.10pm.
The Homicide and Major Crime Command are now leading what they have termed a murder investigation. The crime scene remained in place today, with police still working to inform the victim’s next of kin. They were also waiting for formal identification of the body and a post mortem.
