Small and medium businesses in Tower Hamlets could get up to £3,000 towards installing a high-speed broadband connection, usually of 30Mbit/s or more. The new grant from the Greater London Authority (GLA), worth up to £100 million across the UK, is being delivered in London by local boroughs, including Tower Hamlets, and the Mayor of London. The grant is designed to help businesses access high speed broadband, which can be used to store and access files and applications via a cloud, transfer large files quickly and securely, and provide a more productive and reliable service every day.
Tower Hamlets Mayor, Lutfur Rahman said: “I am pleased that we are working with the GLA to make this grant available to our local businesses. Harnessing the possibilities of technology can underpin a business’ scope for success.”
Deputy Mayor of Tower Hamlets and Cabinet Member for Economic Development (Jobs, Skills and Enterprise) Oliur Rahman said: “This is an excellent initiative. I would urge businesses in Tower Hamlets to make the most of the grant funding.”
To access the funds, businesses need to get a connection voucher. The voucher can also be used for the installation of a dedicated business grade broadband service.
