ALL POINTS EAST is a music festival – and so much more. It’s hard to tell just how much more, as the information on their website is on scroll, and it’s hard to see what’s on offer before the information is whisked away.

The music kicks off on Friday, 21st August with Jorja Smith & Tems. On Saturday, 22nd August it’s Lorde: that’s already sold out, apart from a few limited visibility tickets, and there is a wait list. There’s more music on Sunday, 23rd August with a long list of performers.

The Festival starts up again on Friday, 28th and Saturday, 29th August, with Tyler, The Creator headlining on both occasions. The final show is on Sunday, 30th August, with a range of performers including Twenty One Pilots and Wunderhorse.

The event is organised in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council. The organisers say they are passionate about making a positive impact on the local community, particularly with their sustainability policies. One less than positive aspect of the festival is that tickets for the music performances seem to start at around £60, which is way out of reach for many young local residents. The second is that events in Victoria Park cause significant disruption for people living around Victoria Park. There is an informal agreement that some events in the Park are a sensible use of the space, but the truce is based on locals having a positive experience of the events in terms of how people behave and how litter is dealt with.
