The England learning disability cricket team has defeated Australia in Melbourne to win the INAS International cricket series 5-1. England finished the final match of the series in style by defeating Australia in the last One Day International by 35 runs at Carlton Cricket Club.

England’s learning disability Captain Chris Edwards was named Man of the Match for his international career-best score of 104 runs, two catches and one wicket as well as the prestigious Player of the Series award after he averaged 97 with the bat during the series and also returned best bowling figures of 3-2 off two overs.

Chris said: “It is fantastic for the team and a great feeling to win 5-1 in Australia. I can’t really put into words how pleased everyone is. It was also great for me personally to get a hundred, it is something I have always wanted and aimed for. All the hard work and support from the likes of head coach Derek Morgan, assistant coach Les Randall and the rest of the coaching team has been a massive help with my development.”

Reflecting on the series Ian Martin Head of Disability Cricket ECB said: “It has been a fantastic series and really well organised. I am delighted with the character the team have shown to defeat Australia in Australia which is something they should be very proud of. I would like to congratulate head coach Derek Morgan and his management team on a job well done. I am looking forward to testing ourselves in the next INAS cricket series in 2017, in England.”
