JUST TWO DAYS after a man died from stab wounds sustained on White Horse Road late last month, two people were arrested – and a man has now been charged with murder.
The Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command launched an immediate investigation after police were called to the scene of the stabbing. A 51 year old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and a 44 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They were held in custody at east London police stations.
The man, Keith Nelson of Mountsfield Road, E6, was later charged with murder and with possession of an offensive weapon. The woman was released on bail while inquiries continue.
The victim has been named as Alfred Purcell, 34. A post mortem examination took place at East Ham mortuary on 29th June.
Police continue to ask people who were in the area of the junction of White Horse Road and Gresham Road to come forward to help them build up a picture of what was going on that evening, 26th June. If you were there, or have any other information, please phone the police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111 to give your information anonymously.
