A MAN LOST his life on The Highway in Shadwell, Tower Hamlets last week. Police have already made four arrests, but they are now appealing for any further witnesses to come forward so they can be sure what happened.
The incident occurred at around 4.30m on Tuesday, 24th October at the junction between The Highway and Dellow Street. The emergency services received reports that there was a male pedestrian in the road. Police and the Ambulance Services attended, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at 5.10am.
The pedestrian was later identified as a 26 year old man. His next of kin have been informed. Formal identification and a formal post mortem were to take place last week.
So far the police believe that the deceased man was hit by a motor vehicle which then left the scene. The arrests of four young men – two aged 18, one 19 and one 20 – were made on suspicion o causing death by dangerous driving. Three of the young men have been released while the investigation continues, and the 20 year old man remains in custody.
