The Brahmanbaria District Association in Bologna, Italy, held a grand inauguration and a delightful cultural evening at the local PD Park in the Borgo Panigale area of the city.
The event was presided over by the association’s president, Badiul Alam (Faisal), with Moniruzzaman Liton hosting the evening and Rashedul Islam Nazrul delivering the welcome speech. The programme commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Tanvir Hasan Sajal.
Despite their busy lives, many expatriate Bangladeshis gathered for the event, turning it into a festive reunion. People of all ages, men and women dressed in colourful attire participated in the large celebratory gathering.
Distinguished guests from various regional associations and political organisations in Bologna, as well as prominent business figures and members from all walks of life, were present.
Leaders of the Brahmanbaria District Association from different cities in Italy and scholars from various European countries who are currently working in prominent institutions after completing higher education in Europe also joined the celebration – Their distinguished marked one of the key highlights of the event.

A special lifetime achievement award was presented to Shah Taifur Rahman Choton, a senior community leader who has served the Bangladeshi community across Europe for over three decades.
The event concluded with a vibrant cultural evening featuring performances by artists from Italy and other European countries. The segment was hosted by Mizanur Rahman, the General Secretary of the Brahmanbaria District Association in Bologna. The audience, made up of thousands of expatriate Bangladeshis, was thoroughly captivated by the performances.
Upon receiving his award, Barrister Morshedur Rahman proudly stated: “It is an honour to represent London here today. Our roots in Brahmanbaria keep us united, no matter where we are in the world.”
