Olympic, World and Commonwealth medallist, Christina Ohuruogu MBE was the main guest at the University of East London’s Active Campus Celebration.

The active campus project is here to enhance visitor experience, whether you’re living, working, studying at UEL or just visiting.

UEL are refreshing existing spaces and places, developing an expanded programme of events and activities, and creating vibrant new areas to relax, have fun and enrich the mind, body and spirit.

The active campus schedule is ever changing. With new events and activities launching each term the aim is to deliver something exciting and enriching for everyone.

After a Q&A with the Team GB legend attendees completed 400 metres with her on the Active Trail Exploration.

Ohuruogu was in fine form, engaging with visitors. She spoke about how her journey had started off as a netball player and how she ended up becoming a global 40” metre icon almost by accident after filling in and excelling beyond expectations.

She said, “I grew up in Newham, just down the road, and it was one of my proudest moments to compete at London 2012 during the Olympics. It was something I could never have imagined as a child.”
