Football champions over a range of age grades were feted during the annual Inner London Football League awards night.
The much heralded event celebrates the participation of thousands of amateur footballers who take part in competitive grassroots League competitions over the course of the calendar year.
Notable names to be celebrated on the night included double winners Bromley Legends, five consecutive promotion winners Mohammadan, Wapping and the great and evergreen Stepney FC.
The event was held at The Mayfair Venue and conducted by Julius Allen and Nanu Miah on behalf of the ILFL.
Also present were Emdad Rahman’s World Cup winners Bangladesh, who broke all records on the way to beating Nigeria 6-2 in the final.
Inner London Football League Chairman Rashid Ali commented, “Once again our volunteers continue to raise the bar highly as we focus on using the power and positivity of football to empower our communities.
“We are proud to engage thousands of people on and off the pitch and each piece of feedback we receive is a tremendous boost to our ambitions to serve one and all. Our thanks go out to our sponsors for their ongoing support of our work.”
Guests on the night included Lutfur Rahman, the Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets and Derek Bennett, the Borough’s football co-ordinator.
